The five-point crown denotes a special significance for all members of Zeta.  The wife of the former CEO of Hallmark is a ZTA and gave Hallmark the idea of a five-pointed crown as their symbol.

The Banner of Zeta Tau Alpha is made of turquoise and gray satin, and is embossed with the letter "A" , the word "Themis" and a burning torch. The meaning behind the banner is a secret that is revealed only to initiated sisters of Zeta Tau Alpha.

The colors of Zeta Tau Alpha are Turquiose Blue and Steel Gray.

Strawberries are an important symbol to Zeta Tau Alpha. In the late 1800's, a suitor of one of the Founders presented her with a gift of strawberries. This gift prompted the Founders to host their first social gathering and soon after, ZTA officially became recognized on campus.

The white violet, which represents purity, is the symbolic flower of ZTA.

The Badge is worn only by initiated members and consists of a shield bearing the five-point crown, the letters ZTA, and the Greek word "Themis."

The pledge pin is worn by New Members until initiation. The turquoise and silver pin is modeled after the carpenter's square, representing the straight lines of dignity and moral conduct to which all ZTA's must uphold.

Themis is the patron goddess of Zeta Tau Alpha.

A gold link enscribed "Alpha" begins the chain representing Zeta Tau Alpha's 225 chartered chapters. The Gamma Kappa Chapter at James Madison University is the 84th link in the chain and was established November 19, 1949.
