When can I get a ride from SafeRides?
SafeRides operates from 10pm until 3am on Fridays and Saturdays and only operates while JMU is open.
How can I get a ride?
In order to receive a ride home, you must call SafeRides headquarters first (540-568-7433) and provide them with your name, phone number, location, and desired destination. Be prepared for a minimum of a 15-30 minute wait.
At least one person in your traveling party MUST have a JAC card in order to get a ride home. SafeRides serves JMU students and visitors of JMU students as long as there is a person with a JAC card in the car.
How many rides can I receive a night?
SafeRides will only give students one ride per night. The reason does not matter as long as it is during operational hours, although we prefer you use it as a safe ride home.
What happens when I receive a ride?
SafeRides will need you to sign an agreement that will be verbally communicated to you before entering the car, this signature is just to recognize that you understand what a SafeRide entails. It will not be used in ANY other matter.
You may not use alochol or tobacco products while in the vehicle. SafeRides will report you to the police for any threats of violence and to the hospital if alochol poisoning is suspected. SafeRides reserves the right to terminate a ride at any time if any of the above occur.

JAC card numbers and signatures are stored in CONFIDENTIAL files and are only used for insurance or recording purposes. Our goal is to provide you with a Safe Ride home.
