History of Iota SigmaThe history of Iota Sigma began in the Fall of 1989........John Warlick and 4 others were newly initiated brothers of the Eta Kappa chapter of Theta Chi, here at JMU. The chapter lost its charter for hazing violations soon after the group's initiation. Warlick and our founding vice president Jeremy Rhett organized an interest group of about twenty individuals. They contacted Pi Kappa Alpha nationals who came to the university in January 1991 and aided the group in the formation of our colony of Pi Kappa Alpha. Through the aid of nationals the group raised its numbers to 42 people over a 3 week period. We received our colonization soon after on February 16, 1991. The founding fathers consisted of the Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta pledge classes. The First PIKA house was located at 473 South Mason St. where the illustrious Heaven and Hell party occurred. The Iota Sigma Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha received its charter on March 21, 1992. We moved into our current house, at 1165 Harrison St., in the fall of that year. The first actual rush and pledge class occurred in 1992 with the Epsilon pledge class. The line of presidents has been John Warlick, Chris Lawing, Ed Wyatt, Mike Skiados, Rich Mehlberg, Chad Fulmore, Brian McKone, J.T. Carhart, Jeff Schaal, Chris Methot, Mike Brangan, Ryan Abresch, Ryan Howard and our current SMC Chris Fiocchi. We are now in our 12th year of existence. The current exec consists of External VP-Kevin Boyer, Internal VP-John DiFerdinando, Treasurer-Bobby Jenkins, Secretary-Keith Shaw, David Ramsey - The immaculate Social Committee Chairman, and Sergeant at Arms-Troy Moss. |
