About Us: The James Madison Ski and Snowboard Racing Team is an intercollegiate team of racers who share a passion for speed, snow, and good times! The top five men and woman comprise our A Team, and the B-Team is comprised of 5 additional men and woman who are selected weekly to allow all of the team members the chance to experience a race. Participation in fundraisers, community service and attendance at practice will be taken into consideration when choosing the B team. The same process goes for the snowboarders: five men and woman will be selected each week to compete. We compete in the Southeastern Conference of the United States Collegiate Snowsports Association (USCSA). The Woman’s team competed at nationals at Sugarloaf, ME three years ago and regionals at Blue Mountain, PA for the past two years. Practices take place at Bryce Ski Resort, about a 30 minute drive from campus. We have a very knowledgeable coach, Ryan Locher, and lift tickets are only $10/night. We intend to practice Tuesdays and Wednesdays, slalom one day, giant slalom the next, switching from week to week in case a racer can not make practices one day of the week. Dues are undetermined, but likely to be in the $65 range for the 2007-2008 school year, and this in addition to the money we make fundraising covers Ryan’s coaching fees, the teams’ USCSA membership, and housing at the races. |
