About the Alumni

Jennifer Milligan

I graduated from JMU in 2001. The Equestrian Club was a huge part of my life at JMU. Laura (Corswandt) Hess, Shannon Cox and I had the vision of an equestrian team as freshman at JMU. We started the team our sophomore year. I was captain of the Equestrian club throughout my time at JMU and loved getting the opportunity to ride horses. I went to law school in New York, graduating in 2004. I occasionally took a horse for a ride through central park. I have now planted in Knoxville, Tennessee where I practice transaction real estate and corporate law. I still have my horse from when I was in high school but I haven't been able to get back into horseback riding since I moved back here. I hope to find the time soon. CONGRATULATIONS to the team for persevering through a difficult time! Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

I was thinking about the team and looked you all up – what an awesome website. I am actually the founding president of the original team. Jennifer Milligan, Shannon Cox and I sat around in a Weaver dorm and cooked up the crazy idea of having an equestrian team at JMU. It is incredibly awesome to see it flourishing so many years later. I was Laura Corswandt back then and graduated with the class of “01. I am now married and living in Raleigh, North Carolina. I have been training and showing in North Carolina and just bought my next project – and DWB/TB mare. I would love it if you could add me to your alumni page.
