Professional Activities

The Vice President of Professional Activities along with the Professional Development Team help provide IK with valuable experiences and opportunities. Our professional program includes various activities such as: speakers, panels, tours, and workshops.

Most of the speakers tend to be working professionals including JMU faculty, entrepreneurs, recruiters, and JMU alumni. These speakers provide an insight to life in the “real world” as well as concepts to apply to your life today.

One special event that we have every semester is our Alumni Panel. This is a chance for recent (and not-so-recent) deltasig alumni to talk about their life after graduation and give advice to current brothers and pledges.

By far the most favorite professional activity is the Coors Brewery Tour. The past few years, IK has gone to the Shenandoah Brewery to tour the facilities and see the production of beer. (Sorry, no taste-testing……..we’ve tried.)

A recent addition to our operations is the Investment Challenge started by Jose Chiriboga ('02 Grad) and Dave Cordova. The Challenge consists of 2 teams that meet weekly to track the progress of their portfolios. This is a great opportunity for brothers to dig in and apply what they learn in the classroom to the actual market.

Finally, one of the most rewarding aspects of the program are the resume workshops and mock interviews. Each semester we have a resume workshop through JMU and/or the CoB to get real help improving our resumes. Also, each pledge class participates in mock interviews where their interviewing skills are refined.

Overall, IK has a strong professional program with great experiences and many networking opportunities.

Here is one of our many Profesional Activities.
