About Us

The JMU Breakdance Club was conceptualized by Kevork Garmirian in the Spring of '97 and then implemented by Josh Rosenthal. Coming to Kevork in a dream one night, he awoke in a cold sweat with determination in his eyes. He was now a man on a mission. Residing at a conservative school in the valley of the Blue Ridge mountains he knew what he had to do....

JMU MUST HAVE A BREAKDANCE CLUB!

With the speed of a posessed man, he sprung into action. Making use of the facilities at JMU, mainly an $18.2 million recreation center, he wrote the JMU Breakdance Club Constitution

The BDC is now in it's year since its founding, and has come a long way. Bringing hip-hop culture to the students of James Madison University, and representing the 4 elements as best we can. The BDC has earned a reputation for its hard work and dedicated efforts to charities, and for putting the fun in funky.

Making appearances at Alternative Spring Break fundraisers, campus-wide events, and always drawing a crowd at Student Organization Night, the BBoys and BGirls of the BDC have been featured in James Madison University's newspaper 'The Breeze', and are known to the students and faculty as well as breakers around the area.

Hoping to continue the advances that we have made since it's founding. The BDC continues to welcome those who are interested in the culture, the dance, and dazzling some educated fools.
