"Develop a membership, who guided by the five ideals of Judeo-Christian Principles,
Leadership, Scholarship, Loyalty and Self-Support, share a lifelong commitment to
Alpha Kappa Lambda and are dedicated to assuming leadership roles in meeting the
challenges and responsibilities of life."
The Beta Omicron chapter of Alpha Kappa Lambda is located on the campus of
James Madison University. Beta Omicron was founded on April 21, 1987 by our
six founding fathers. Our founding fathers began a strong chain of brotherhood
that has been the cornerstone of our organization since its inception in 1987.
Over the past thirteen years, Alpha Kappa Lambda has been an active member of
James Madison University. Through our annual concert event, Lombardi Gras, AKL
has helped sponsor the Special Olympics and have donated over $5,000 to cancer
research. Lombardi Gras has been an annual event for the past two years and
AKL has been supported in this event by UPB of James Madison University,
Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, and the Harrisonburg community.
Alpha Kappa Lambda has also maintained a major role in the James Madison
University Greek community. AKL won the intramural championship at JMU for the
1997-1998 academic year. AKL accomplished this feat by acquiring the most
points in the intramural sports of any other fraternity at JMU. AKL has won
back-to-back intramural softball championships the past two years.
Alpha Kappa Lambda has become an active participant in the annual JMU Greek
Sing event. This event is sponsored by the JMU Greek community and gives each
JMU fraternity and sorority a chance to showcase their talent in a musical and
concert-type atmosphere. AKL received first place at Greek Sing three of the
past four years.
