THEME:

Community Habitat for Humanity

Organizing and performing community service is the backbone to our organization. We strive to educate our peers on campus as well as community members about various health care issues and concerns.

We are very excited about our community service this year! The theme for this year is Community Habitat for Humanity and ideas for this theme are in the works so stay tuned :)

The VNSA suggests:

bullet

Pick a week such as spring break to support your local Habitat for Humanity      organization.

bullet

Set up a schedule with Habitat for Humanity that is flexible enough for members to sign up for workdays over a period of time. This works well for nursing student’s busy schedules. A kick off day is wonderful for orientation and press.

bullet

Develop a fundraiser that caters to your specific chapter and donate the funds to Habitat for Humanity. There are some great ideas on their website and this is also a wonderful opportunity to be creative!

bullet Sponsor a “Cans for Habitat” drive. This is a very simple project that includes distributing aluminum can “drop boxes” across campus and then collecting the cans once the containers are full. Habitat for Humanity provides all of the supplies for this flexible project.
