Web Space for Clubs
Would your organization like a website?
- This JMU server is dedicated
for organizational websites: orgs.jmu.edu
- Web space is available to
recognized organizations free of charge
- This web server has
Microsoft FrontPage Server extensions and ASP enabled
- Organizations can receive a
website if desired (For example: orgs.jmu.edu/clubname)
What do I need to do to add or delete a
contact or get a website for my club?
1.
The Club Webmaster needs to complete an Organizational
Information Publisher's Agreement:
o
deletion
of contact
o
Web
Publishing Application and Agreement
2.
Bring the completed form to SOS/Clubs, Taylor 205A for the Clubs
Coordinator’s signature.
The Clubs Coordinator will input a request to the Computing HelpDesk for account creation or modification. Normal business hours are
Monday-Friday 9:00-5:00.
3.
Once the request is received online, the HelpDesk will create or change the accounts within 2 business
days M-F and contact the club webmaster.
4.
When prompted for your user name and password, you will
use one of the following login formats based on your version of Microsoft
Windows:
o
Windows XP Professional "your e-ID@jmu.edu" or
"JMUAD\your e-ID" and your e-ID password.
o
Windows 2000 Professional and older versions
"JMUAD\your e-ID" and your e-ID password.
Also depending on the version of Windows or the application you are using
you may even see two different styles of login boxes.
o
Style #1 has only "Username" and
"Password" fields, based on your version of Windows as in the
above indicated login formats.
o
Style #2 has a "User name",
"Password," and Domain fields. This style login box permits
inputting your e-ID in the
"User Name" field and the JMUAD
in the "Domain" field.
What kind of technical support is
offered?
SOS and the JMU Computing HelpDesk
work together to ensure the account is created;
however, it is the organization's responsibility to provide the internal
expertise for the actual web development.
The SOS web page
maintains links to all club pages
How do I get my site linked to the SOS
page?
The SOS webmaster adds links from the SOS site to all club
sites. If you notice a problem with the link or are interested in your club
having a link, please contact the SOS webmaster listed at the bottom of the
SOS website.
